Comment: Damn I just got a call from the number!! When I get a notification about paying my bills for Verizon, I'll randomly get calls from this number. I don't trust it to be Verizon since their number is usually an (888) area code. Don't call this number back and waste your time! Call the actually Verizon number which is either sent by email or a text msg directly sent to your handset.
Beware of stupid idiot monkey scams like this!!

"THE ANSWER IS !!!! This is a legitimate call from Verizon Financial Services. I received a similar call and spent considerable time with a Verizon Cust Service Rep who did a BRILLIANT JOB of sorting it out. The phone calls are computer generated -- therefore multiple calls and often hangups since they take the next call in the queue. That answers the hangups --- rightly or wrongly. The caller ID on the phone is legit and is what they use for outgoing calls. The reason they call is one of the following. You owe them. They have your phone number attached to someone who owes them. If you don't owe them, tell them to search your phone number and take your number off the account of the person who owes them. ---- They had my home phone number on someone elses account. They removed it and the calls stopped. Hope this answers everyones questions."
over and over again on different websites, all word for word identical...but the mans name it was posted by is different.

THIS IS DEFINITELY A SCAM!!!!!!!
949-286-3311 IS NOT Verizon Financial Services
This is most likely being played out by a prior employee who is abusing their access to accounts to call over due customers and threaten them in hopes to gain your credit card info.
ONLY PAY YOUR BILL BY AUTOMATIC BANK DRAFT OR IN PERSON AT AN AUTHORIZED VERIZON PAY KIOSK.

Comment: I got the phone call from this number on 4/30/2009 at 17:55. My voice message delay is 30 seconds. They waited to the very end, I didn't answer. No voice message at all. I called back and the Verizon Wireless Financial Service girl said that she can't find my phone in their system, even in somebody's referrals. That's find because I'm not their customers. I suspect somebody uses this phone number to substitute his own real number and to create a number of phone calls looking like from Verizon Wireless making people calling back and overload their system. Just an idea. Another possibility - somebody in VW programs their system from time to time to make these calls.

Comment: Definitely originates from VERIZON!
Every time I start having a problem with the service or billing I start getting calls from 949-286-3311. Not really a lot that can be done until they find a new number to play with. It's really very sad.

Comment: I've been receiving calls also. I will be adding this # to my contact list and then choosing no ring so that I do not pick up by accident. Any other ideas.

Comment: I have received a call the last two days from this number on my cell phone. They do not leave a message except for one garbled word. I have not called back but it makes me mad because it uses my minutes. Verizon Wireless doesn't know what it is about either. If anyone finds out what can be done about this please post it!!

Comment: This is Verizon Wireless claiming to be collecting on past due accounts, but I can not get them to stop calling my home! Each time they call, they ask for a different person. Not only do I not know the person they are asking for, but I do not have an account with Verizon Wireless. When I speak with a supervisor, they indicate our number will be removed. A couple of days will go by and I start getting calls again.
What can I do? I am willing to take action, but I do not know where to start. I have contacted the FCC, but I do not know if this will lead anywhere.
