Comment: We received a call at 8:40 pm today. This has happened several times in the past few days. Tonight I answered, and a woman replied, "Is Cheryl there?" When I asked Cheryl who (no one by that name lives here), the woman immediately replied, "Sorry. Wrong number."
How do we get these calls to stop?

Comment: my son is 19, took credit card w limit of 500. got behind so they offered settle w him for 528. He sent a cashiers check to capital one. Now they sent him a bill w a balance for 113. He kept his promise, they did not keep theirs.They r sending him a bill for 113.He called and told them we settled this, and they deny it, although my son took a loan out at his bank to pay them, and get this off his credit report.

Comment: I get 7-9 calls a day from this number, no one speaks when I answer it. They even call on Sundays.

Comment: I'm remaining anonymous about this complaint. due to my time of being unemployed, i'm tired of being bothered by these people. i have no money to pay, and i'm not happy with their interest rate. plus i'm being lawfully threatened, so their harassment needs to come to a halt!!!

Comment: recieved calls on 1/21, 1/20, 1/19, 1/17, 1/16, 1/15, some of the posts say it is Capital One - But if it was them and they really wanted to reach me they could take the time to leave a message - so otherwise I will keep picking up and hanging up on them or just plain ignoring them.

Comment: I don't have a capital one card and they are calling me. It is kind of annoying sitting at work, and having this 800-955-6600 calling you, when I call back it is a recording asking for the 16 digit card number. I don't have one, so then it asks me for my SS# and I won't give them that. I think if they are going to call then they need a leave a message, because I'm sick of receiving calls for a credit card company that I don't have a card through!!

Comment: This number is NOT listed on capital one's site as a contact number.
Hang up and call capital one back using either the number on the back of your card or one from their website and inform them of the fraud.
Then go to the Better Business Bureau's website and report the fraud online.

Comment: my mom received a similar call claiming to be from capital one. i called my own number from the back of my capital one card, and they informed me capital one DOES NOT make OUTGOING calls. if you ever receive a call from claiming to be from capital one asking for information, it's a scam.

Comment: Ditto to all of the above complaints regarding this number. Our response to any calls asking for updated personal information, payments, sales or financial offers is the same . . . "This phone number does not accept phone calls regarding any financial matter. All communication must be sent in writing only to the following address . . ." On the third ring the call goes to a fax machine. It has helped reduce calls.

Comment: i got a call from this number informing me i needed to pay because i missed my previous payment. I knew it was a scam because i had just made a payment to cover my arrears a day earlier. My problem is how did they get access to capitalone's information on their clients. This is really annoying.

Comment: I received a call from 800-955-6600 and it was Capital One, calling to remind me I missed last months payment. While I had the woman on the phone, I made my payment online, and that matter was resolved easily. BUT..... I have another credit card through Capital One. I paid it off recently, but I paid too much. It left a negative balance of over $100. I informed the woman that I would need that money back, since I had paid them too much. She told me I had to call 800-955-6600. I called the number and got a capital one recording. I had to enter my SSN because I didn't have the credit card with me to enter my account number. After I put in my SSN, the line went dead. I search the number I called, 800-955-6600 online and that's when I found all of these other complaints!! I called a REAL Capital One phone number and they had nothing to say about the "fake" number.

Comment: This is capital one, i have no outstanding balance, so i answered to see what it was once. They are trying to sell you additional services, so they can get your balance up, and if you say no, they wont remove you. Look when you apply for this card, you give them the right to contact you for any reason after you accept their card. READ the fine print everyone. take the time, it will save you in the long run.
