Comment: My 90 year old mother with a broken leg and laid up in bed keeps getting these calls from some collection agency, they say she owes the company they are representing money and that she needs to pay the entire amount now. I remember this issue with the company they are representing; I called the company and expressed the dispute over whether she actually owed anything at all. I talked to one of the supervisors and mentioned that she understood the advertisement to state with each mail order... she would receive a free gift (this was pretty cheap costume jewelery) he said that if we packaged the items up and send them back the debt would be concedered paid. I gathered the items (they were still in their original plastic bags and boxes)I took pictures of the items laying beside the itemized list that supervisor sent that I should gather them up, I then went to the US Post Office got a box that would handle all of it (10"x7"x5"), as you can see it didn't take much to package the few items. I packed, and labled it according to the instuction given by that supervisor, went to the locale United States Post Office and had it insured for the entire amount that the company said the items were worth (some where around $375?)and the U S Posdt Office sent it out. since then she gets calls just about every day harrasing her for her to send them the money. There was a time, maybe 2 or 3 months back, that I told the debt collector of the items lits and pictures and that I had the U S Post Office do a search/check on the delivery of the box, The Post Office printed me a copy of the delevery with the recepients signiture and Post Office Box on it (which is the same as the instructions directed that they should be sent. Well they stopped calling for about a month or so, now they're back at it. My mother is Old and not well... what will it take to have these people stop harrasing her?
